Just call me cinderella.

I've been on a MAD cleaning spree for the past 2 months but now that Ava will be here in just 2 days it seems like I'm cleaning every day and not just the normal pick up but the big momma clean that normal only happens at my house once a week. I'm obsessed, seriously. I can't help it because I just want everything to be perfect, spotless, and tidy. I've always been a clean freak....nothing gets me smiling like a clean house and the smell of lemon pine sol. Yes...I have a problem...I blame it on my mom because she is the same way.
Speaking of my mom, she will arrive tomorrow around noonish! I'm so happy she is coming up a day early! I have been bored out of my mind the last few days just hanging out at the house. Bo has been at work so I don't have his entertainment :(. I'm 39 weeks now and it's apparent. I'm REALLY feeling the pain. I mean c'mon people...it's a chore just to get to get up and go to the bathroom. And my knees feel like they are going to give out on me everytime I stand up. All this weight is dragging me down!!! I know I know...poor me, right. lol. It will all be over soon and we will have our precious little girl :) Only 2 more days!!!!

38 week ultrasound pics of Ava Grace!

Here is a treat for you all! We have pictures of Ava from our 38 wk ultrasound this week...a profile shot and a picture of the front of her face showing her nose, lips, and chin (The placenta is covering up her eyes and forehead...lol, like I said it's getting a little cramped in there). ENJOY!! She is so precious.

Big news!!

Ava Grace will be making her debut into this world next week via c section! After much discussion we have decided that this is the best choice for us. She is measuring over 9lbs and growing and my cervix is not favorable or changing at this point. We are so excited! It seems so surreal. Let's just say it's been an emotional day for me. I cried when we left the Dr. office this morning. Bo was like.."what's wrong babe?" and I responded with a weepy "I DON'T KNOW....I'm just so happy, and she is going to be here soon and it just amazing." Oh...pregnancy hormones, lol.
I will post the exact day...I'm waiting on my Dr. to call me back. I asked for next wednesday, May 27 so we will see if that day is open for surgery. If not then we will try for Thursday and so on.
She is so beautiful...we saw her on ultrasound yesterday and she is so precious. I can't wait to kiss those chubby little cheeks! This is my belly as of today, 38 weeks. I also wanted to post a picture of the little house we are renting....it's a special place. A place where we will bring our daughter home for the first time, make her first memories and come together as a family. Though we won't be here for long, it will always be Ava's first home and where she spent the first 6 months....so sweet. Oh...and that's my mom on the porch with our dogs. She came for mothers day and we got to spend a few days together! So special. Anyway, I'll post again soon when I find out the exact day next week of Ava's birthday! Keep us in your prayers...

Progression!

I had my Dr. appt today and I'm dilated to 1cm! Hooray! Not as much as I would have liked but Hey, I'll take anything at this point! I have an ultrasound on Monday to check baby's weight again and then another Dr. appt on Tuesday to see what the plan is for delivery based on the baby's weight. So exciting! She will be here in just a short 2 weeks or sooner! Keep us in your prayers...

2:00 in the morning boredom...

This is what happens when you combine no sleep, box of washable markers, pregnant lady's body as canvas, and two people that are extremely bored. Yea, we are strange but body art is soooo much fun! My husband usually paints something more feminine on me but for some reason he was in a what he calls "gangster" graffiti mood ( what ever that means..go ahead, laugh). Had to share these photos! Too funny. Oh, and for those of you that are slightly worried after seeing these photos that we are producing a child...don't worry it's all fun and games. PROMISE we won't paint our baby.
Oh, and I attached another photos of both dogs, Mac and Dakota after their lion cut! Doesn't Dakota look cute with a bow in her hair. It looks like she should be wearing a tutu.

Ready to put my running shoes back on....

I've never been so excited about getting back to the gym! It's been so odd seeing my body going from top shape to...well, pregnant. Don't get me wrong, I think pregnancy is beautiful but I'm at my end stretch and it's not so glamorous anymore. I'm not the kind of person to just sit around and do nothing...I LOVE activity! Pregnancy has taken a number on this body and lets just say has slowed me down quite a bit. It's so hard to just switch positions, do housework or just take a trip to walmart without feeling like I have been hit by a truck...seriously. Ugh.

During my first trimester I was so sick that even thinking about working out would make me turn shades of green. Second trimester rolled around and I had more energy and hit the gym as often as I could. Working 12 hour shifts as a nurse wore me out and exercising became not as routine as I would have liked. It seemed like I was spending my days off from work just regaining my energy and then it was time to hit the long hours again. Phewww. Don't miss that.

And finally third trimester rolled around and I've had to limit myself and workouts to slow walks around the park with my husband. It takes everything out of me...crazy.

So you can say that I am very anxious to get back into my regular workout routine and start feeling like my old self again. Slowly though...these 40lbs (or more..cough, cough) that I have gained are weighing me down and I am motivated to get back. I CAN DO IT!

Bowl of goodness....

Whenever I was a child and got sick, my mother always fixed me homemade potato soup with saltine crackers and 7up. Yum! I to this day still love this comfort food and fix it anytime Bo and I are feeling ill. Well, unfortunately Bo and I have been sick for the last few days with a cold BUT it has given me good reason to make this yummy, feel good meal. It's so simple to make and you normally will have left overs for the next day or two so you don't have to worry about cooking while you feel like death run over. I thought that I would share this potato soup recipe just in case the next time you need some comfort when your feeling low...

In a large pot combine:

5 peeled and cut baking potatoes
4 cans of chicken broth
1 onion, chopped
salt and pepper to your desire

Boil these items on medium heat until potatoes are soft (normally about 30 minutes)
Use a large spoon or masher to mash down the potatoes in the soup to your liking ( I like a combination of mashed and lumpy potato)
Add a dash of milk, stir and ENJOY! Don't forget the saltine crackers and 7up! Yum.

So easy, right! Thanks Mom!

All pain and hopefully a little gain...

Our Dr. appt went well today, baby looks good! He didn't check me today but he will next week and regularly there after. My GPS test came back negative THANKFULLY, so now I can just sit back and enjoy this last stretch of pregnancy bliss :)
I am determined and motivated to see our little girl in the next 3 weeks! I am trying EVERYTHING I can...in moderation of course and as tolerated, to go into labor. Of course I am supposedly only 36 weeks so we want her to cook a little longer and not be too early. 2-3 weeks will be perfect. Cross your fingers for us and think happy labor thoughts! We are so excited for her to be here.

It's a LION! Oh, wait...it's just our dog Mac.

Before and after picture of Mac, our sweet golden retriever. He got a shave down at the groomers...he looks like a little lion, kinda silly huh. He is such a good boy and I think he is too precious even with his golden locks gone (only a mother could feel this way..HA!) Our other retriever, Dakota will go on Wednesday. She is already pouting about it and senses her doom. We did this to help decrease the shedding and to keep them cleaner when Ava gets here. They are both inside dogs for now so we made the decision to do this. Don't worry Mac and Dakota..it will grow back.

Putting it all together....the rest of Miss Ava's Room

These are not the greatest quality of pictures but at least you can get the idea of what the nursery looks like! The only thing that is not in these pictures is the rocking chair but I have already posted a picture on the blog with the rocker in it. I love simplicity and things being clean, neat, and organized. I wish I could have painted the walls but since we rent it is out of the question. Maybe when we move in December and buy our first house (YAY!!!) I'll be able to put more personality into her room and just have fun with it. But I love her little room and I think she will love it too! I'm still hunting for a soft, shaggy light pink rug to accent the hard wood floors but I haven't found anything that I like yet so I'm still looking.

The little pink tutu hanging on the wall is a gift from my Mom to Ava...so cute! I can't wait to see her in it and get her pictures taken! I thought it looked cute hanging on the wall just to add something different. All of our maternity pictures that you see were done by my amazingly talented friend and photographer, Anne Camille Collins. She is brilliant!
Now I'm just trying to tie all loose ends up and get creative with storage. I love for everything to have it's own place...it creates a less chaotic space and you can always know where to find what your looking for. I have A LOT of baby blankets and stuffed animals for Ava so as of now I'm trying to find storage for all of these goods. I might sound weird but I hate for things just to be randomly placed so I'm sure that since my storage capacity is very limited I'll have to just pack them up and place them in a closet for now until we get a bigger place. Our little girl is ready to come into this world and her room is ready! HOORAY!
